Here are some links to other resources you may find useful!

Birmingham Dance Groups

We are predominantly a Ballroom, Latin and Rock 'n' Roll society - if you're interested in other dance styles, you may find some of these links interesting!

Birmingham University Dance Society (BUDS)

BUDS focus on a number of different styles of dance including Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary. Whereas our dancing is focused on partner work, BUDS focus on group performances, culminating in their annual show!

Dance Club Latino (DCL)

If you are at all interested in the social Latin dances such as Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and Reggaeton, DCL have already got you covered! They hold weekly classes at 8pm (Beginners) and 9pm (Improvers) on Mondays - right after our Rock 'n' Roll class ends! There are occasionally Salsa events on the university dancesport circuit and joining DCL is a perfect opportunity to pick up some exciting new moves.

The Swing Era

While we occasionally will do a social class in Lindy Hop or Charleston, here you can learn from professional Swing Dance teachers! They are a friendly bunch of dancers based in Digbeth and Moseley who offer Beginner, Improver and Intermediate classes, predominantly in Lindy Hop but occasionally in Charleston, Collegiate Shag and Solo Jazz.

Technique

Ballroom Guide

An excellent resource, including written and video breakdowns of most (but not all) International Style Syllabus figures. Also includes a blog with many informative posts about all facets of dancesport. If you're interested in learning or brushing up on a particular figure, click here to go to their Workshop page.

Social Dancing

Sequence Scripts

An excellent website with step-by-step descriptions of popular Sequence dances. We dance these throughout the year at tea dances and at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom during our annual trip to Blackpool.
