Dancesport Music Workshop
On Thursday 25th at 8pm I will be holding a 🎹 music workshop 🎹, where we will be spending some time with the music and rhythms of the different dances and learning some more about how they work.
We will be focusing on the four main dances - Waltz, Quickstep, Cha-Cha-Cha and Jive - which are danced in all levels of competition.
I've held something like this informally in the past and it's been a great opportunity for people to ask questions about the different dances and their origins.
What to expect
We'll be spending roughly 15 minutes on each dance, playing a few different songs and talking about the rhythms and how best to count the music. I'll be answering any questions you have about the music for any of these dances.
If you ever struggle with timing - we all have at some point - this workshop is for you. If your timing is fine but you'd like to learn more about musicality and phrasing, come along - we'll be discussing this too! If you're interested in learning more about the origins of these dances, we'll be able to answer those questions too.
This will be a fun, interactive session - while we may do a little bit of dancing, you won't need to bring your dance shoes. We will be resuming Offbeat after Nottingham competition is over - read more here.
Hope to see many of you there!
