Competition - Warwick Varsity

Hope you're all looking forward to Leicester comp on Saturday - I know I can't wait to get back on the dance floor!

Meanwhile, we're excited to announce that Warwick Varsity Competition is happening on Saturday 20th November at The University of Warwick, Sports and Wellness Hub, Cryfield Village, Coventry CV4 7EU

Doors open at 8:30am. The first round of Ballroom is at 9:30 am and the first round of Latin is at 3pm. The Team Match begins at 6:30pm and the event will aim to finish at 8pm.

Entry Deadline

Please complete the doodle poll below by 11:59pm Wednesday 3rd November. If you submit after this time you will have to pay an extra late fee of £3.Please fill in the events you're entering as a couple then individually sign up for the coach.

We'll be posting the Sign up poll on our Private Facebook group and our Team Page - join if you haven't already! If you don't have Facebook and would still like to take part, get in touch with us.

Cost

Cost per Competitor = £18

Cost per Spectator = £4

Rules

  • Dancers competing in the Beginners, Novice or Ex-Student Novice category must adhere to the basic steps in the BDC syllabus.
  • The Same-Sex, Intermediate, Advanced and Open events have no step restrictions.
  • The Beginners, Novice and Ex-Student Novice categories have restricted dress as in the IDVA constitution.
  • Same-Sex, Intermediate, Advanced and Open events have no dress restrictions.
  • Competitors may only enter one of the Beginners, Novice, Same-Sex, Intermediate or Advanced categories in each style.
  • A student may dance in both the ex-student and a student category, providing he or she dances in the student category with a student partner and in the ex-student category with a different ex-student partner.

Team Match

This will be run in the IVDC format with a qualifying round and couples recalled as a team rather than individually.All competitors must be present students with no more than 50% of the team coming from institutions not affiliated with the university.

We're very sorry for the quick turn-around in the entry-deadline but hope to see as many of you compete as possible! Beginners, this is your chance to experience what a Varsity Comp is like. This is a good opportunity as this comp is closer to what Blackpool will be like.
